Video technology and LED screens

We deliver video systems ranging from presentation management to large LED screens, media servers and multicamera production, professionally planned, operated and directed.

Services

LED screens and professional presentation technology

Modular LED screens allow standard 16:9 displays, wide panoramic screens and striking irregularly shaped display configurations. We also use monitors and projection screens in smaller spaces. Our technicians handle the timely playback of presentations, videos and other sources, as well as presentation management, so you can focus on the event itself.

Media servers and multicamera video

When a standard presentation is not enough, media servers provide synchronised control of multiple displays. We prepare and programme the visual content in advance so it can be played back with precise timing during the event. Our Hippotizer media servers synchronise large display setups, including irregularly shaped displays.

Bring stage performances to a wider audience with IMAG

Showing live stage performances on screens (IMAG) makes the programme visible farther from the stage and, when needed, in other rooms. Multicamera production can be combined with live streaming to deliver the programme to your chosen online audience in real time and high quality.

Multicamera production provides a professional broadcast with smooth camera switching, which can also be recorded in HD for later use. Our equipment includes standard PTZ and production cameras, as well as specialised solutions such as camera cranes, cable cameras, drones, Steadicams and miniature cameras. We also use wireless camera links and instant replay systems.

Frequently asked questions about video technology

When is an LED screen a better choice than a projector and projection screen?

LED screens are now by far the most popular way to create video displays. They perform exceptionally well in daylight and other brightly lit event venues, and offer considerable flexibility in placement. Projection screens, by contrast, depend on the venue having a suitable position for a projector opposite the screen. LED screens also make it easy to create large, seamless displays and irregularly shaped configurations. A projector can be cost-effective in a dark meeting room, for example.

What size LED wall does an event need?

The size depends on the venue dimensions, viewing distances, stage structure and content being displayed. Text legibility must be assessed from the seats farthest from the screen in particular.

What does an LED screen’s pixel density mean?

Pixel pitch is the distance between adjacent LED pixels in millimetres. A screen with a large pixel pitch is less suitable when the audience is close to it, because individual pixels become visible at short viewing distances, reducing image clarity.

Can an LED screen be wider than usual?

Yes. Modular LED screens can be used to create wide panoramic displays and other layouts that differ from the standard 16:9 format. Content must then be prepared for the chosen aspect ratio and resolution.

Can an event have several video displays?

Yes. Different screens can show the same image or their own content, and a media server can synchronise multiple displays when needed. A video professional prepares the content and programmes its playback on the media server.

Why is a video technician needed if the venue already has a sufficiently large projection screen and projector or LED screen?

We strongly recommend having a video technician manage presentation playback so that speaker changes and the start of videos and presentations follow the agreed running order. Speakers can still change their slides using a wireless remote (a “clicker”). A display showing presenter notes and a technician-controlled clock or timer can also be provided on stage. Presentation files should be supplied in advance for the technicians to check. We have developed our own DC Transfer service to make submitting materials easy and secure.

A production involving multiple sources, live video cues or a media server almost always needs a technician to operate and monitor it. A simple setup in which the speaker’s presentation computer connects directly to a projector can generally run without a technician supervising playback.

What does IMAG mean?

IMAG, or image magnification, means showing live camera footage from the event on screens in the venue. It helps the audience follow speakers and performers in a large arena or from the back of a long room, for example.

Can an LED screen show camera footage and presentation graphics alternately or at the same time?

Yes. A video switcher and presentation equipment allow switching between camera footage, slides, videos and other signal sources. Images from several sources can also be combined on the screen simultaneously.

Is an LED screen suitable for an exhibition stand?

Yes. An LED display can serve as a presentation screen, a striking backdrop or an attention-grabbing feature for your stand. Its size and brightness are planned around the stand dimensions and the exhibition organiser’s technical restrictions.

How does video technology work at a hybrid event?

We strongly recommend using the same provider for both video technology and streaming at a hybrid event. This makes it easy to route videos and presentation materials into the live stream and use multicamera footage on the screens at the venue.

What determines the cost of LED screen hire or supply?

The price depends on the size, number and technology of the displays, screen placement (ground-stacked or suspended), the playback system required, personnel and transport. Event duration and the time available for setup also affect the cost.
